Special operations, bribes, foreign travel, new safehouses, and emergency extractions cost additional money and shorten the runway.
The executors may reduce activity to preserve the fund or increase spending during a crisis.
Personal Bequests
| Beneficiary | Bequest |
|---|---|
| Lark | 4,000 gp |
| Kame | 4,000 gp |
| Total personal bequests | 8,000 gp |

| Lark’s personal bequest | 4,000 gp |
| Kame’s personal bequest | 4,000 gp |

The dedicated ship, Bastion, and network funds require the executors to justify spending as consistent with their intended purposes.
Public and Charitable Bequests
These bequests are intended for people and institutions outside the party.
| Purpose | Bequest |
|---|---|
| Naukrian infirmary and indigent treatment | 20,000 gp |

Emergency Clause
The executors may temporarily defer up to 50,000 gp of the public and charitable bequests for as long as one year if the money is necessary to:
- contain Simonides’ unfinished work;
- prevent a magical disaster;
- protect people endangered by association with him;
- preserve the estate;
- maintain the party’s legal bond;
- address an immediate threat connected to his research.
Deferral is legally defensible.
Permanent diversion would create:
- moral consequences;
- political opposition;
- resentment from beneficiaries;
- damage to Simonides’ reputation;
- possible challenges to the executors’ authority.
